Education

I have a M.A. in Literacy Instruction from Graceland University in 2018, a B.A. in Elementary Education from St. Ambrose Unversity in 2012 with GPA Graduate Honors (3.7-4.0), Alumni of Kappa Delta Pi Honors Society, an endorsement in English/Language Arts and hold a license to teach in the state of Iowa.

Experience

I have 4 years teaching experience in different grades (including first grade, third grade, fourth grade and sixth grade). I also have 8 yrs experience tutoring elementary students in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics in grades K-8. I use reading/writing/math assessments tailored to the student's grade that tell me exactly what areas need support. Lessons are then planned to support growth in those areas and also provide review of previous lessons so information is retained. Lessons are engaging using the most recent brain engagement strategies we know in education. I tutor out of local libraries in the afternoons/evenings during the school year. Hobbies

Since completing graduate school courses I've found I have much more time to enjoy things I love. I spend my time outside of my third grade classroom reading, playing piano (I also offer piano lessons), grilling on my new patio, traveling (recent destinations were Daytona Beach, Jamaica, and Milwaukee). I enjoy tutoring and plan to do it for a few more years.
